Have you ever wondered why guys like Tracy McGrady, Lebron James, , Alex Rodriguez, and so many others that are the superstars on their teams never won? Well let's break this down, Alex Rodriguez is due to make around $28,000,000, the whole Yankee Payroll is $209,081,577. That is more than a tenth of the whole team salary. Me being LDS that is like giving your tithing for the team salary.
Problem there is there is no salary cap like in the NFL or NBA. So let's take a look at Lebron, $63,000,000, for the life of his contract, his salary for this past season was just under 6 million, their entire payroll was just under 63 million this season, which means that the King commands about a one-fifth of his teams' money. He wonders why they don't have any help for him? T-Mac same thing $16,901,500 he made for this season, well $62,627,349 was the entire team's salary which means that greedy SOB makes almost one-third of his team's total payroll, which means he won't win a championship. Luckily we're all stupid enough to continue to buy tickets, soda, beer, hotdogs, and any other food product at these games. Dan Marino continued to be the highest paid player on his team, he put up good numbers yes,
just as all of these other guys did, but they didn't win a championship because they were greedy. So if we want to see our teams win championships it is really simple quit spending more than necessary at games. Don't support a guy until they win something or prove it to us the fans that they can. Marino gets a pass because he was in the playoffs for practically all his career, same with the afore mentioned guys, but we like championships, not just the playoffs.
Of course you have to blame the owners for starting this and the general managers who put these teams together, however, if you cannot get your team, group, etc over the hump and you get paid the most you should be fired, the same goes for the general managers who put these teams together.
